VAT increase (boooorrring!)

It’s boring but we need to notify customers of the upcoming UK VAT increase as of 4th Jan 2011 when the rate will increase from 17.5% to 20%.

Remember in computing classes when tax was always used as the example for a constant because it rarely changes? The UK has seen VAT changes twice now in as many years.

This only affects UK and EU customers. And if you are in the EU, you can supply us with your VAT number so we can zero rate your invoices. This can be done from the Account tab in Server Density.

Hi David, you may want to bear in mind the VAT increase doesn’t take effect until the 4th January, not the 1st. So if you’re writing any scripts to update your billing systems, you may want to update the time! I nearly got stung with that one as well…

Thanks for the correction[1]. We use Xero for our accounting so it’ll automatically handle it. Pleased not to be coding tax systems!
